After a major storm, our crews often find that the connection point to a home has been damaged. It is important to know that Glasgow EPB is legally only allowed to repair equipment we own. If the damage is on the customer-owned side, we cannot restore power until a licensed electrician makes the necessary repairs.
Glasgow EPB-Owned (The Blue Zone)
We are responsible for the infrastructure that brings power to your property:
- The utility pole and transformer.
- The main electrical service wire (from the pole to the house).
- The electric meter itself.
Customer-Owned (The Red Zone)
The homeowner is responsible for the equipment that receives the power and attaches it to the house:
- The Weather Head & Mast: The pipe and “hood” that holds the wires.
- The Attachment: The hook that secures the wire to your home.
- The Meter Enclosure: The actual metal box that holds the meter.
Pro-Tip: If your weather head or meter box is pulled away from the house, call an electrician immediately. Once they finish the repair, we can safely reconnect your power.
